Departure - Keating Cabin - Owl Hoot Trail

Before you leave 3800 Owl Hoot Trail, please follow this checklist to ensure the cabin is secure, clean, and ready for the next visit.

🧹 General Cabin Close-Up Tasks

Please refer to the full Cabin Rules sheet, but here’s a summary of key steps:

❄️ Empty the fridge – wipe it out if needed
🍽 Put away all dishes and wipe down the counters
🗑 Take all trash and recycling with you
🧺 Bring all towels and laundry back to Pocatello for washing
📝 Make a list of any items that need to be replenished
🧽 Vacuum and clean as needed
🐭 Reload mouse traps
- Peanut butter is in a blue Tupperware on the floor of the closet by the back door
🚪 Close all upstairs doors
🌬 Close all windows and curtains
💡 Turn off all lights
🚰 Turn off all water faucets
🔐 Lock all doors except the back door (until power and water are shut off)

Go to the pump house (small building behind the garage, ~35 yards from the cabin).
Enter through the left-side door (right side is storage).
Use the lantern on the wall (gray flashlight-looking thing) or your own flashlight.
Walk in front of the pump to the right side (tight space).
Locate the yellow-handled shut-off valve on the floor, toward the back right.
- Water is ON if the handle is left to right (in-line with the pipe)
- Water is OFF if the handle is pointing toward you and the back wall
Turn OFF the water
Close the pump house door

Go to the electrical room (left of the main back door).
Turn all breakers to the OFF position
- OFF = switches flipped toward the sides
Exit the electrical room
Lock the back door
