Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Everything you might be wondering about your stay at Owl Hoot Trail

🛏 Cabin Basics

  • Where is the light switch for the kitchen table and bar? This is a biggie! The dimmer switch for those lights is on the right as you step up from the great room into the kitchen. It’s placed on the flat shelf near the black spindle—an odd little spot. The black switch blends right into the espresso-colored wood.
  • Is there Wi-Fi or cable?
Nope! We encourage unplugging and enjoying nature. There’s a DVD collection and books for entertainment.
  • Is cell service reliable?
It can be spotty. Plan ahead and download anything important before arriving.
  • Can I bring my pet?
Yes, but please clean up after them and supervise them at all times.
    • Please cover furniture and/or quilts with one of the extra bed sheets to protect the furniture and reduce laundry.

🧼 Cleaning & Supplies

  • Do I need to bring towels or bedding?
Towels are provided. For bedding, we often ask that you bring your own sheets and pillows, or use sleeping bags. Blankets are always available.
  • Are cleaning supplies provided?
Yes! You’ll find them under the kitchen sink and in the laundry room cupboard.

🔌 Utilities & Safety

  • How do I turn on the electricity and water?
    Follow the Open/Enter information.
  • What should I do if I see a bear?
Stay calm, don’t approach, and carry bear spray when walking outside. Lock up food and trash.

🚪 Before You Leave

  • What do I need to do before checking out?
Follow the Close/Exit checklist: clean up, take trash, shut off utilities, and lock up.
